I am grateful for the doctrines contained in the simplicity and beauty of “The Family: A Proclamation to the World,” for helping me see more clearly what lines up with what God wants for us, and wants us to know.
Outposts of the Kingdom of God
Our homes are small outposts of the kingdom of God, reflecting some of the glory of heaven but surrounded by darkness and constantly under attack.
Heed the Warnings
If this pandemic year has taught us anything, it should have taught us to heed warnings. The calamities foretold by ancient and modern prophets are beginning to unfold. Are we watching? As responsible citizens, and/or officers of government, are we finding ways to strengthen the family?
My Mother’s Basket
In Singapore, the cultural tradition has long been for a bride to present her mother with a decorated basket filled with gifts she has learned in her mother’s home.
Beloved
We are BELOVED to our Heavenly Father and Mother. We are loved deeply and completely.
The Proclamation Has Been Scripture to Me
The proclamation has been scripture to me, and memorizing it has been one of the greatest helps that a mother could have in today’s world. Family has brought the most happiness into my life, and that’s the way God meant it to be!
The Bravest Mother I Know
When the Lord defined the family through this sacred document, He taught us that the family is the center of all things. The family is love. He taught us that “Happiness in family life is most likely to be achieved when founded upon [His teachings].”
Defend Traditional Marriage
Man and woman are made to complement and complete one another. God has made it so! Marriage between a man and a woman was created as the ideal for children to come into this world.

Roles, Revelation, and Grace
In our world today, we enjoy so many freedoms and opportunities, and we are blessed to believe that we can become whatever we want to be. This is a wonderful truth, and the Family Proclamation reinforces our divine potential and eternal destiny.
Working Together as a Family
One of the greatest things we can do is teach our children the joy of honest labor. They will learn this best working together as a family on projects that improve your home, serve others, and create works of beauty.
Tarzan, Vines, & Forgiveness
Think of your grudges, resentments, hurt feelings, pain. Can you let them go? Can you move forward? Can you find a way to forgive – for the sake of your happiness, and the happiness of your spouse and your family? It is the only way. It is the only way to progress.
Warning Labels
I am learning that heeding God’s warning signs to families promises His safety, His protection and His freedom. How very blessed we are as God’s children to know that He loves us enough to warn us. And not just individually, but as families, for that is how He wants us to come back to Him!
Stand as a Witness
The 24th anniversary of The Family: A Proclamation to the World is at the end of this month. Every day until then I will be reposting articles from The Family Proclamation Celebration that has been held on my blog starting in 2010. This post was from 2011. Several weeks ago my husband and I took our two little children […]
Defending the Family: You Were Chosen “For Such a Time as This!”
Teaching the Teacher One of my university students recently shared the following email with me (just days after the ruling regarding same-sex marriage): I actually wasn’t able to sleep for a couple of nights because I was so worried about the effect this Supreme Court ruling would have on the nation and the world. But […]
