I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Only a couple more hectic days left for the first cutting of the season. The girls have one more day of raking while the men have a few more days of baling left. I’ve taken some video of the whole operation and hope I can figure out how to upload it so you can all see what our life is like working on the farm in the summertime. I think next week will be “Farm Week” here on the blog and I’ll show a different step in the whole haying process each day. Sounds fun, right? Actually it will probably be boring to most of you but I’m going to do it anyway.
I’ve been busy here at home cleaning the house before my brothers and sister come to visit this weekend. I’ve also been sewing in the afternoons, designing bookplates for my etsy shop, gathering old photos of church members for a church social on Saturday, hosting a girly sleepover with cousins, and finally biting the bullet and trying something new with my hair – highlights! I was kind of tired of the same old manure brown color. I’ll post a picture when I can find someone to take a decent shot.

I will be interested on your posts. I am a pure city girl but I love to read your blog and keep up on what you and your family are doing. Just on a side note can you send me some pictures of your family? I think maybe you have been a bit busy with the farm work and may have forgoten.
Thanks, Aunt Nancy

I LOVE your blog! I just saw one of the comments you made on Mommy’s Martini blog. (She’s a Hump Day Hmmmer.) And I loved it so much! That talk by M. Russel Ballard was one of my favorites too! I just wanted to come visit and see your blog. I’ll probably be checking in throughout the week to see about the farm.

Is that ALL you’ve been doing – even while haying is in full swing??? Can’t wait to see the highlights, I love new, fun things. And I love the pictures of the treasures on the side bar. Very nice.

I need to come to your mom’s bookstore gala for Breaking Dawn. I’m one of those poor saps counting down the days. And I choose Jacob too…

Manure brown, you crack me up!! I would never have come up with that term for your hair. Of course I don’t come in close contact with manure all that often. 🙂 I want to see what you did to it though.
I’d love to learn about haying on your blog though. Being around the process in person would be horrible with my allergies.

First time commenting- just recently started reading the blog. Love it! Can’t wait to see the farming pics- we’re aspiring to move onto acreage and at least get some chickens…or a cow. Maybe a field of hops for my hubby’s homebrewing… 🙂 Cheers!

I’ll look forward to Farm week. Also – I love the pics of your kids on your sidebar. Either they’re new or I’m oblivious – either way they’re beautiful kids.
