So are you finished with your Christmas shopping yet? Or have you even started? Or do you plan on not really shopping but making gifts instead? Or both?
We are almost done here. I’m actually behind schedule this year but I blame it on my brother-in-law who is getting married Dec. 17. All those wedding plans, attending a bridal shower, being in charge of gathering and printing photos for centerpieces for the receptions (there are two) kind of put my Christmas plans off a little. All those are done now so I can get back to my regularly scheduled chaotic life again. ☺
Still looking for ideas on what to get various people in your family? Never fear – the web has a stockpile of sites to help those of us who run into mental blocks.
For children who enjoy reading my mom’s bookstore, The Purple Cow, has put together 25 simple, easy ideas for giving a book with an additional something extra for a gift. Check out this post on their blog to print off the ideas that are in a handy pdf file. My favorite has to be recording yourself reading a book with a camcorder and sending that video along with the book. My mother did this for my own children and they literally wore those old VHS tapes out!
Mique at 30 Days put together wonderful lists of ideas for gifts to make for everybody on your gift list this year. To find the lists just click on any category in her sidebar and you’ll be amazed at all the good links that come up. My daughters have been using her site to create their own handmade gift ideas for cousins.
For those who are more into just sewing, Sew, Mama, Sew has also been showcasing tutorials in their Handmad Holidays 2008 guide for every type of person on your list whether they are eco-conscious, college students, or music lovers. Every day they are covering a different person sure to be on your holiday list.
And speaking of sewing, do you have a little girl on your list who happens to have an 18 inch doll in her life? You can get free American Girl Doll Dress Patterns. Yes, they are free! So Pec, you can add more clothes to your mom’s collection of dolls! You can bet I had several girls squealing with excitement when I showed them we could get the pattern for Josefina’s nightgown or Felicity’s ball gown. {{{squeeeeeeee!!!!}} I believe it’s a good thing we can fit all five sewing machines around our 10 foot long 4 foot wide dining room table.

Thanks for the link! 😉 And I squealed in delight when I found the AG doll patterns. Fun huh? You’ll have to post pics of the finished projects.

Oh my goodness! We SO think alike! I have been waiting for months now for the Scholastic Book sale to come to town so I could buy some new books and record myself reading them to the kiddos for Christmas! The sale starts Thurs!
After much deliberation, just yesterday I bought myself a new sewing machine! (my hubby’s Christmas present to me.) I can barely contain myself until it comes! (I am saving my old one for my little girl and, of course, enrichment nights!)
Yes, Chrismtas is done here too
(isn’t is wonderful!), all except the doll clothes! Usually I have excellent self control, but this time, I think my Christmas present is coming out of the box before the 25th! Thanks for the link!
I hope you splurge on something fun for yourself with that $100!
