I’ve received several e-mails about where we got our information and books for our Presidential Election Lapbooks. I guess if I was really on top of things I would have shared this at least a week ago so there would be more time to cover this before the election ends today. It won’t hurt to do this the rest of the week though either.
The basic mini books were downloaded from homeschoolshare. It was very easy as the pdf files had all the information needed to complete the books, except for the Political Party one. We did have to research the platforms for each party and print off their symbols.
The older girls were also required to so some mini books from Notebook Learning’s Free Presidential Election Lap Book Folder.
Reading A-Z has some great biographical booklets about each candidate at three different reading levels: grades 2, 4, & 6.
We used this form to compare the candidates.
We also used bits and pieces from the following election unit studies:
Montessori Lessons 2008 United States Presidential Election Unit Study
Joyful Songs Presidential Election Unit Study Resources
Ben’s Guide to the U.S. Government for kids

I am glad you are teaching your kids how to openly look at all the candidates. What a great skill to acquire at a young age!
