“. . . said Alice, still panting a little, “you’d generally get to somewhere
else — if you ran very fast for a long time, as we’ve been doing.” “A slow sort
of country!” said the Queen. “Now, here, you see, it takes all the running you
can do, to keep in the same place. If you want to get somewhere else, you must
run at least twice as fast as that!” (Through the Looking Glass, Chapter 2)
Sorry, no recipe today. We’ve been on go here, go there mode.
Yesterday we travelled to Fallon for a surprise birthday party for Mr. Ferrero Rocher’s mother. She’ll be 65 on Monday. I dutifully took my camera along but left my battery at home still in the charger. We had a great time visiting with all the extended family. The kids played their hearts out with cousins. We also played a few rounds of Snorta. That was a blast! We came home with a typewrite on loan from Grandma W. Truffle is in high heaven. She’s been wanting a typewriter ever since she received the American Girl doll Kit Kittridge for Christmas.
Today Semisweet and I went to a demonstration on how to can butter for our food storage. It was so informative! We’ll definitely be doing this sometime in the future. We then went to Wal-mart Voldemort to get fabric for aprons. Semisweet turned 12 last week. Her birthday party next Saturday will be a chef’s party so, of course, every girl will get their own apron. Strawberries were on sale real cheap so I bought enough to make six batches of strawberry freezer jam. I just got done doing that and now the kitchen’s a mess. Sticky countertops and muddy floors. The kids went outside to play while I made the jam and tracked mud in all through the house.
I’m working on a whole series of Valentine posts for next week. There will be downloadables, crafts, and links to other great ideas on the web.
And last, but not least, my I♥Faces Kids entry for Joy came in the top ten out of 257 entries! Fudge is very excited.
Have a wonderful, relaxing weekend!

I don’t know what I admire more–the fact that you can quote Alice in the midst of such business or you making aprons for a birthday party, or that you can so cheerfully write about sticky jam and muddy floors! 🙂
Elise just picked up the “Kit” book at the library.
Can’t wait for your valentines posts you incredible lady you.

Leaving the battery home sounds like something I would do! It sure sounds busy, but also fun.
