This probably won’t interest most of you but for me this article put out by The Pew Forum on the demographical data, religious beliefs and practices, and social and political views of Mormons in the U.S. makes for interesting reading. Throughout the article the data on Mormons is compared to that of other religious faiths and summarizes “as a group Mormons are among the most devout and conservative religious people in the country.”
Some statistics stated by the article:
Mormons make up 1.7% of the adult American population, the same percentage as Jews.
76% of Mormons attend church services once a week compared to 82% of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 58% of Evangelicals, and 41% of Catholics.
86% of U.S. Mormons are white, 7% are Latino, 3% are African-American.
61% of Mormons have some college education compared to just about half of the general population.
60% of Mormons considered themselves conservative, 27% Moderate, and 10% Liberal
Anyway, just thought I’d share the article link for others who may be interested in reading it.
