Argyle is one of those things. You either love it or hate it. When looking for ideas to paint the girls’ bedrooms we came upon one room with an argyle type design and Bon Bon fell in love with it. Fudge, who will be sharing the bedroom, is so easy-going it didn’t take much to talk her into painting their room the way Bon Bon wanted.
Here are the steps it took to paint the bedroom.
Step 1: After painting the cream base coat we set about creating the diamonds. We made marks every 30 inches along the top and bottom of the wall. We connected the marks diagonally using a chalk line.
Step 2: I wrote G in every other diamond to mark which ones would be painted green. Then we taped off those diamonds using green painter’s tape instead of blue. The green tape does not let any paint seep underneath it making for very sharp crisp lines. Immediately after painting we pulled the tape off.
Step 3: We let the green paint dry for several hours. Then we marked, taped, and painted the dark purple triangles pulling the tape off right after we finished painting.
Step 4: After the dark purple paint dried for a couple of hours we taped off and painted the other purple triangles a shade lighter.
Step 5: Finally we marked and painted the aqua blue dashed X’s through the cream diamonds. We measured to the middle of each triangle along the top or bottom edge(15 inches as they were 30 inches wide) and also measured to the middle of the cream diamond (again 15 inches). We connected the dots with light pencil lines creating the X.
And there you have it. Argyle.
