Have you ever seen the tooth fairy? I haven’t but I’ve heard her. I lost my second front tooth (on top) and couldn’t wait to see how much money I would get the next morning. I was so excited I couldn’t go to sleep. I was laying on my side facing the wall when I heard someone tiptoeing into my room. “It’s her!” I thought. “Just turn around and you’ll see her.” but I was too scared. I felt her hand reach under my pillow, pull out my tooth, then replace it with a coin. She quietly tiptoed back out.
It took a few minutes before I was brave enough to turn around, reach under my pillow for the money, and turn on my light. I was so excited to receive a whole quarter that night that I ran downstairs to show my parents. They were visiting with my grandparents in the living room. I told them the whole tale of hearing the tooth fairy come into my room and feeling her hand reach under my pillow.
My grandfather made me smile to show my missing teeth. He then went to the kitchen cupboard, pulled out some chiclet gum and took me to the mirror. “Smile again,” he told me, “and I’ll put these in where your missing teeth are so you can see what you’ll look like when your big teeth grow in.”

What I want to know is, how did he know they would really be that big?
(ages 8 & 9, why was I wearing the same exact shirt in both pictures?)
It’s a good thing I’ve kind of grown into them. Kinda.

So funny. I’ve always wondered why God puts those horse teeth in cute, little mouths.
people that have *nice* teeth as adults usually had big whoppers as kids. sad, but lucky later on!! my husband was exactly the same. His photo could rival yours easily… and now he has the best teeth ever.
How funny! I think you look adorable…in both pictures! How fun to hear your stories and memories!
That first picture was obviously taken after recess, when you’d been running around and that little kid-sweaty-humid-hair-curling action had taken place. I love those kinds of pictures. They show us as we really were – active, loving life, and fearless!
I have school pics just like that. HUGE teeth, and two years in a row wearing the same dress! 🙂 (except in one I had straight hair and in the other my Mom had permed my hair into a brillo pad!)
I enjoy the comments almost as much as your wonderful stories and photos!
Lol, those are great teeth! And yes, they look like chiclets. I love the story.
The same shirt two years in a row? Your mom has some ‘splaining to do. Just like my mom does about that time she sent me to picture day in a boy’s plaid shirt and boy’s short hair cut!
That shirt 2x is hilario! But I gotta tell ya, I would never EVER show my 8 and 9 yr school pictures. I think I burned them, actually. So kudos to you!
