New Year’s Eve the three oldest girls attended a youth dance/game party hosted by our church. Mr. Ferrero Rocher drove them in and I went and picked them up at about 10:30. (You’ll hear some of my rants about that in another post) We didn’t stay up to ring in the new year (we’re boring). Instead we gathered with some of Mr. Ferrero Rocher’s family New Year’s Day to visit, eat, and play. Here a few glimpses of that day.
visiting with gorgeous cousins
playing cowboys
eating delicious buttermilk rolls
playing card games
Racing to put puzzles together. This is a yearly tradition. We get two of the same puzzle – usually 300 pieces – split into two teams and race to see who can put it together faster.
smooching on cute babies
putting balls in the “bubble gum” machine over and over and over again

Those rolls look wonderful… I’m always looking for a good recipe. Thanks!
The all day celebration is one of my very favorite ways to bring in the new year.
Thanks for the recipe. I am looking forward to the sinfully fattening version of butter! 🙂
Yay for fun celebrations! I like the puzzle races. 🙂
I need to make some of those buttermilk rolls…can’t wait to hear more about NYE! 🙂
Sounds like your day was a lot like ours, minus the rolls. I did not have that recipe!! Guess I need to get it and have a new celebration this weekend!!
We never stay up until midnight either! In fact on the eve of the big year 2000 we went to bed early and awoke to our neighbor blowing her kuzoo (sp?) out her front door! Our older girls (11 and 8) just realized that people actually stay up until midnight on New Years Eve! 🙂
Love the puzzle race idea! We love puzzles here too.
Judi 🙂
My husband got pulled over, while picking up my two oldest at the church dance. The light on the back of our car, by the license, was out, so the officer used that to pull him over…he said they were looking for drunk drivers…LOL! Sounds like a fun New Year’s and like everyone says the rolls sound yummy. Buttermilk makes all baked goods better. Happy New Year. Joni
Looks like you had fun.
I admit, I am dieing to hear your rant… 😉
How come you get to pick up at 10:30? We got 12:30!
I stayed up, if you can count pretending to be awake while you sleep on the couch watching a movie…
A certain little girl here has that same bubble gum machine. And she loves to put the balls in….IF she gets claps and cheers for her efforts! After each ball, she stops, looks around and waits for the “fans” to cheer her on.
I love the puzzle idea. We’ll have to try that one.
