I have this habit picked up from my mother that drives my children nuts. It used to drive me crazy too when my mom did it. And now I do it, go figure! When I’m driving down the road listening to good music I place my hands at the top of the steering wheel and start tapping my thumbs to the rhythm and bopping my head to the beat {and usually sing too}.
Beautiful World, the new album by Justin Cash, is full of thumb tapping, head bopping, feed your soul goodness.
Not only is Justin a good singer and songwriter, he also plays the guitar amazingly well {electric guitar to be specific and I still love it!}. His rhythm and blues style is catchy, the lyrics to his songs touching. A couple of the songs on the album are remakes of oldies but goodies – Don’t Worry, Be Happy and Over the Rainbow – but it is his original works that shine.
No Sorrow in Jesus reminds us to whom we owe everything. “There is no sorrow in Jesus. There is no sorrow in this world. There is no sorrow in Jesus. Only hope and promise in his word. . . In this world, there will be suffering, In this world there will be grief. There is One whose hand is oh so strong, and He will being relief.” Justin explains a little bit about writing the song before performing it in this youtube video.
Beautiful World contains a message we all need to hear, even with death and war, pain and sorrow, this world is still beautiful. Take a listen.
I had the chance to ask Justin a few questions.
Before reading the rest of this interview take a listen to If You Try. It is one of my favorites on the album!

Anything by the Beatles (the early years). My father loved them and would play them on the record player, moving the speakers to the patio. I remember working on the yards while singing along.

My grandmother used to sing “Hi Lilly, Hi Lo” all the time. I play the piano every week at a senior’s home, and this one always reminds me of sitting in her living room while she sang. 🙂

Music wasn’t a big thing in my childhood. My sister listened to New Kids on the Block and then there was the old time country. My first walkman I was given a tape from George ? If I saw the name now I would remember it but I would remember it. I used to know all the song on that tape. Not so much anymore!

We would play and dance in our basement all winter long in NJ. I loved the song by the Turtles “Daydream” and choreographed a little dance with my sister. It is a cute song with a bouncy tune.
