1.We got to spend Thanksgiving with my family – where all the men cook Thanksgiving dinner {but my girls couldn’t help but make something – like rolls, stuffing, and pie}. It was delicious! And so very relaxing for me.
2. My youngest sister was married the day after Thanksgiving. It was a joyful occasion! The joining of two wonderful people always is.
I really didn’t get any pictures of the bride and groom though – I was too busy taking pictures of my own kids. I figured that’s why she hired a professional photographer.
Funnily enough this beautiful photo isn’t from the hired photographer either! My sister’s new sister-in-law, Whitney, who does happen to be a professional, captured this shot while the hired photographer went about her job. {If you need to hire a photographer and live in Utah give Whitney a try!}
I had to laugh a bit at my sister’s wedding colors, burnt orange and cream with a touch of cobalt blue. Orange is not a typical wedding color, and yet, every single one of us sisters has chosen a shade of orange. In typical 90s style my wedding colors were peach and kelly green since I was from Georgia. My sister, who got married in 2001, had peach and green salmon and sage. And now my other sister decides to have burnt orange. It must be the “in” thing this season. While we were waiting for the newly married couple to make their appearance I saw two other brides with the same burnt orange and blue colors. Go figure.
3. There was a bit of time between the wedding luncheon and the reception so Mr. Ferrero Rocher and I took the kids to do one of our favorite things – explore cemeteries. This time it was the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
Look! Both Mr. FR and I have great-grandmothers named Florence. |
We visited my grandfather’s grave as well as showed the kids some of their ancestors’ grave sites from both sides of the family. There is a certain solemn feeling when visiting the burial places of those who have influenced your own life in some way.
4. The day after my sister’s wedding my family had a breakfast get-together to celebrate my grandmother’s 90th birthday.
She lives in the same house she grew up in! And, boy, has she seen Salt Lake City grow and change in her lifetime. I think she has aged beautifully. Most of her hair is still brown!
5. A week ago I had another ultrasound and found out we are having a
BOY!!
Yup. Our ration of girls to boys will now be 7:3. This silly little boy had no problem showing his guy gear but every time we tried to see his face he covered it with his hands. We’ve all been trying to guess what he will look like.
We are hoping that he will blend these two brothers a bit, as right now they don’t look very much like brothers at all! They love each other though. This picture was taken last night when Ganache fell asleep against Special Dark during a family night movie.
6. Our garage is being remodeled into two new bedrooms. I had fun helping Mr. FR sheet rock one of the rooms on Monday. It was very fun and very dusty. It’s nice to see progress!
7. We decorated our house for Christmas on December 1st.
I think this little spot has to be my favorite of the decorations this year.
The girls took it upon themselves to decorate the Christmas tree in simple red and gold balls with touches of sheet music here and there.
Bon Bon even whipped up a new tree skirt. It looks lovely!
That’s what has kept us busy over the last week. How about you?
I can’t help put tack on this beautiful video to share a little Christmas spirit with you. Enjoy!

Hooray for another boy! And two in a row- for you that’s pretty amazing. ( ; I love the picture of the brothers sitting together.
We are excited for our baby to arrive soon and to find out if we get a boy or girl!
Your family looked so nice for that wedding- I bet finding those orange shoes was a chore.
Tell Bon Bon the tree skirt is totally cute.

Finding the orange shoes was a chore assigned to someone else. All we had to do was supply the sizes. Actually finding long enough grey skirts for the older girls was the chore!

The men cooked Thanksgiving? What the heck? I want in on that deal.
I love the wedding pictures. The kids look so cute lined up and looking at the waterfall in the conference center.
Congrats on another boy!

My dad LOVES to cook so he takes over Thanksgiving and taught my brothers to do the same. We girls would sit and watch Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade and other movies until it was time to eat.

Your family is so beautiful. And you look great! Congratulations on a boy! By the way whenever we cook Thanksgiving dinner it is always my husband who ends up doing it all which is fine by me! And the tree skirt is amazing!

Awesome Tree. Someday I want to have a beautiful tree. Mine is beautiful in its own way with all handmade ornaments collected over several generations, but just once I would like to have a showstopper like yours! 🙂 (and your daughter did an amazing job on the tree skirt)
How exciting for another boy! Super fun! You will have caught up to me on the boys…now I have to aquire 7 girls somewhere….! 🙂

Congratulations on another boy! My little man was the same, in that he showed us his stuff, but not his face. He is very shy!
I knew sone Wadswirths in Pocatello, ID….any relation? They are awesome people! Also, I can’t help but feel that groom is familiar..but I can’t pin point it… My husband and I are both from Pocatello.
Anyway, Merry Christmas!

You guys were busy…and the tree looks lovely! I need to put my tree skirt out so my ornaments stop breaking when they hit the floor! Fact: Boys are awesome!

Here’s my list of comments related to your list of thoughts (not in the same order):
1.Love that your girls are able to sit like ladies. We’re still working on that one with my 8 year old some days. It seems obvious, but apparently, it’s not!
2.I feel for poor little Ganache! I think it’s tie. He’s rebelling. You’ll have to watch that one:)
3.Living away from family as we do, we don’t get to visit our deceased. My mother makes a point of visiting the graves of her parents regularly.
4.”most of her hair is still brown” I’d like your family genes. Enjoy your time with her. All of my grandparents were gone by the time my oldest was 3.
5.Another BOY! Yeah. They really are fun. And smelly. Can’t wait until you get a 14 year old boy’s bedroom.
6.The tree’s beautiful. She should do a tutorial on the lovely skirt. I like that it’s ruffled.
7.Not related – My girls and I are really enjoying the Scripture adventure you put together. I’ve cut all the figures (great job there, Ms. Brownie) and glued them to Popsicle sticks. There are constant puppet shows here.

Wow! I’m always in awe when I read what you’ve been up to. I love all the pictures. Bon Bon did a terrific job on the tree skirt. I was just thinking this week that it’s time to teach my kids to sew.
I love that your family has the tradition of the men cooking Thanksgiving. But I love even more that your girls wanted to be involved. That’s awesome!
And congrats on boy #3! We were blessed with 5 boys and 3 girls.
