I’m all set to be induced on Tuesday, March 19th {if baby doesn’t come sooner}. We are so excited to see this new little guy! And hopefully, seeing him will help us decide on his name. ☺
1. All of my children except for Ganache have been born between September and January. All the newborn clothes was usable for each one because the season and temperature outside was similar. When Ganache came in the middle of summer I had to buy some new outfits that weren’t long-sleeved or winter worthy. I’m finding I have to once again adjust the newborn clothing for a spring baby.
I found these super cute long-sleeved onsies with little hand covers on the end. These weren’t around with my other children. I know. I looked and looked and could never find any! Instead of keeping them all white I dyed a couple of them blue and a couple of others green. {and wouldn’t ya know I can’t seem to find the photos and am too lazy to take more!}
2. I have a wonderful stash of flannel blankets that have a crocheted edging on them. Some were done by my grandmother, others by my mother. They are lovely and very warm and will be good for the cooler spring days. I also thought I’d make a couple of gauze swaddling blankets for the warmer days.
I ordered some cotton gauze fabric{Royal blue} from Fabric.com and just hemmed the edges. I love the black and brown plaid!
3. I also ordered plain ivory cotton gauze to make two baby wrap carriers. The lighter-weight fabric is strong and durable but will be cooler in the hot summer sun.
I ordered six yards of 52 inch wide gauze and cut it in half down the length to get two pieces six yards by 26 inches wide. After hemming the edges I dyed one in a blue ombre pattern using this technique and left the other one cream.
4. I seem to have lost all the baby hats we have. I know they are somewhere but I can’t seem to find the right clothing container. So in the meantime I whipped up these soft fleece hats to cover the baby’s head as it still gets chilly in the morning and evenings around here.
5. Thanks to an idea from my friend Misty and another idea for a Box of Sunshine I created two thank-you baskets for after the baby is born. One basket will be brought in to the hospital when my children come to visit to give to the nurses to thank them for taking care of their mom and new baby brother. The other basket will be taken to my doctor’s office to thank the whole staff for their excellent care. I call them my Sunshine and Blue Skies Baskets.

Oh how I wish I lived closer to you! I would help you hem your blankets and put together your baskets! (I’ve never thanked my nurses, and now wish I had!) But you have wonderful helpers. I admire you so much! Best wishes on for a heavenly delivery, good health and joy! I will be thinking of you!

I am totally inspired by making my own swaddles now. I have two Aden and Anais blankets, but two isn’t enough and yikes-they came as a gift-$49 for two- ridiculously priced when that fabric you linked is so cheap! Thank you! Anyway about the wrap- is gauze a more comfortable wrap than a knit fabric? I have never wrapped-just used a Snuggly, which means it sits in the closet. And well, its time. Thank you for your help.

Temperature wise, yes, the gauze is not as hot as a knit wrap. It is more lightweight and airy making it more comfortable for those hot summer days.

Ooh, it’s so close! I hope everything goes really well. I love the gift baskets. Misty’s idea was awesome and I did a small something for the ladies at my hospital too.

I wish I had done a thank you basket with my last one! My doctor was a rockstar! So much so I would he willing to drive the three hours one way it would take to visit her! Congrats on your future new arrival!!

Cute printable and I love the idea for the basket. Wish I would have thought of something like that back in the day. 😉 As for the cute hats and blankets, every new baby needs a little something new. Looks like you are nesting. Good luck on Tuesday!

I managed to pack a hospital bag with ONE of our four… apparently, 8-9 months is not enough time for me to really be organized for a new baby? To be fair, the last one was a month early and surprised us all. 🙂
The nurse thank you ideas are great!!
Happy Almost Birthday to the newest sweet addition!!

Fun idea for baskets…….but what happened to a simple thank you note? I did give my last doctor some home-canned items because she was really awesome. Good luck for your birthing!

I usually do simple thank you notes but since this is the fourth child my doctor has delivered I figured it was time for a bit more than a card.
