I think instead of nesting syndrome at the end of this pregnancy {18 days and counting!} I am having spending syndrome. Here are my recent splurge purchases.
1. I have a serious love of colored shoes. I like to add pop to an outfit and look down and see color, even if it’s just a bit since my belly covers most of view.
Here’s my view lately.
I love my new orange Converse!
2. I think I must just like color in general. I keep buying colored straws. I justify them because they actually contain the amount of spills form the littler ones who don’t have to lift their cups. Oh, and my mom sent out these totally adorable small milk bottles that spoons don’t fit into so you need a straw to stir the chocolate milk.
But, its not the straws that I splurged on. I got tired of the straws falling out of their packages when we opened the cupboard door so I splurged on a clear {so we can see the colors!} straw dispenser. We’ve only had it for two days but I already love it!
3. Children’s books hold a soft place in my heart. The House of the Lord Pop-Up Book is beautiful! All of us have enjoyed turning the pages, watching to see the temples throughout history come “alive” has we turn the pages of this book. I took it to nursery to read as part of our My Family Can Be Together Forever lesson. Those little ones were mesmerized!
Right now they are on sale 80% off! I splurged and bought one for each of the nursery kids so they could have their own. Kind of a going away gift as I won’t be working in nursery anymore after the baby is born. I’d totally recommend it for a child’s Easter Basket!
4. Goat’s milk soap is always something I splurge on right before I have a baby. I use it on myself and to give the baby a bath. I love the rich lather and soft, sweet smelling skin after a bath!
This time I ordered from a fairly new etsy shop Sincerity Bath and Body. For every bar of soap you buy they donate a bar of soap to either World Vision or Project Worth More. Isn’t that a terrific way to do business?
5. And last, I could not pass up this book I found while doing some research for the upcoming Establish a House series.
Mother Tells You How was a popular part of Girl magazine which launched in 1951 in the UK. It taught the girls of the 1950s traditional tasks like how to bathe a baby, make the bed properly, or make a winter ear warmer.
It is quite funny to look through but also quite educational too!

Ah, look at your feet! How much longer? That is a great deal on your pop up book.
I have a book that my grandma received for a wedding gift over 75 years ago. It has things in there about how to be a good house wife. It is a riot compared to today.

That temple book is beautiful. Thanks for the link. I will for sure look into that for my sunbeams…I will take anything to keep them busy! 🙂

Love that you can see your toes! I was so proud of that little fact during my pregnancies – I could still look down and see some toe…
The life skills book is awesome. I know a few girls and boys over here that need the bed making page…ahem….

I just wanted to say thank you for all that you do and provide on your blog. What a service you render by sharing your knowledge and helpful packets like the Names of Christ booklets, and 30 days of Easter, etc. I am amazed and absolutely LOVE having you as a resource to be a better mother. Thank you, thank you. Prayers for you as you bring your new sweet addition to this world 🙂
