The beginning of January started with Joseph and Abby taking a road trip to Idaho. First they dropped Sara back off at BYU-Idaho in Rexburg for her 2nd semester of college. Then they helped Eve and Patrick move to Moscow for Patrick’s internship. Joseph and Abby drove through Boise just as they got hit with the biggest snowstorm in a very long time. I’m glad they made it back safe and sound and just in time.
The next morning the pump to our well went out! Thankfully we have all the equipment needed to pull it out and also had a spare pump to replace it with. We were only without water for a few hours.
The kids decided to make snow cones to pass the time. Later in the week we had a LOT of snow, then it rained melting quite a bit of it. The temperature dropped freezing it all into ice and then it snowed on top of that. It was so slick no one could get out of the valley for a couple of days.
One of the stack yards got flooded. The roads were such a mess! Some were even washed out in the north part of the valley. The kids made the best of it slipping and sliding on the ice.
There was a small frozen lake in one of our pivots and they spent several days playing hockey and skating on the ice with cousins. The mornings were pretty chilly and this was the scene I would find after seminary – all the little kids snuggled into my spot on the bed.
We traveled to Fallon to spend a day with everyone.
We took a picture of all the babies born between June 2015 and October 2016. We are missing two in this picture that weren’t there.
Do they look like cousins? I think they must each look like the “outlaw” parent. 😀
Ira has started playing the guitar again now that his pinky is all healed.
We made 3d dinosaur and safari animal cookies. They were pretty fun to do and the kids sure liked them!
And Gideon lost his first tooth!
Henry is definitely my child. He got into the hot chocolate mix bucket and thoroughly loved licking his face and hands.
The rest of the month was spent reading old books, doing school and celebrating Marie’s birthday from afar. She is having such a good experience in Wales!
Oh, and of course there has been snuggling!

It was fun reading your January doings. It has been fun to read abut Swansea. When our daughter Laura and husband Matt and kids lived there we visited with them for a month.

I hope we can visit Swansea one day, and with Marie so she can show us around!

haha! Those hot cocoa powder pictures were my favorite.
We’ve been getting a lot of snow, then rain, then freezing temperatures here too, which makes for a big, slick mess. It’s not my favorite. I do love the huge snowfall we just got though! falling snow is so romantic to watch.

Aren’t those great? The footprints were hilarious.
There are several parts of our road that have mag-chloride. It’s supposed to help with the dust in the summer but when it gets wet you’d better be careful cause that stuff is so slick! It was weird when no one could leave the valley. Going north people kept sliding off the road and the south route goes over a mountain pass. The pass was so slick vehicles were sliding backward even while in four wheel drive. No fun!

Large families are built in fun. We added 4 babies from September to February, plus a wedding. Two baptisms in January, and a Sister Missionary that rediscovered an old flame, and decided to wait six months for clarity. Always something, and lots of fun. For being out in the country, you all have great experiences both there and around the world!
