Isn’t it simply lovely to listen too? Garth Smith’s work speaks for itself! I feel bad making you read my words while there is such joyous music playing.
A week ago I took the three youngest boys to town with me. I put in this CD to listen to as we traveled. My sons are 6, 4, and 2 so I didn’t think they were paying any attention to what we were hearing. We got in our van after stopping at one store and the radio came on instead. Gideon, the 6 year old, said, “Mom, I don’t like this song. Turn on what we were listening to before.” GLADLY! It always amazes me how children can be so perceptive.
Garth Smith truly has a gift for helping listeners feel the power of the music, bringing out the melodies while also adding wonderful harmonies. What he does with the Christmas songs on this album are stunning. Songs include: I Wonder as I Wander, Still, Still, Still, It Came Upon a Midnight Clear, Sankta Lucia, For Unto Us a Child is Born, Gesu Bambino, Away in a Manger, O Holy Night, O Little Town of Bethlehem and more.
Not all songs are strictly piano. Garth has teamed up with guest vocalists and instrumentalists to bring variety and added depth to beloved Christmas songs. Listen as Mattie Millward sings O Come, O Come Emmanuel.
If you are like me and enjoy adding new Christmas music to your collection each year, “A Sacred Christmas” should top your list!
