Gideon, Jason, and Henry came with me to Utah last week for a quick trip (we went down Tuesday and came back Thursday) so I could attend my Uncle Ed’s funeral. Since I had the boys and wanted to make the trip more fun for them I took them to Hogle Zoo. Last time we were there Hank was one and had to be pushed around in a stroller.
It was so much fun! The boys soaked up every minute of seeing all the animals, riding the train and carousel, feeding the giraffes, etc. Being a zookeeper is Jason’s dream job so he really enjoyed asking a lot of questions and observing all that went on.
It brought back some childhood memories of my own – drinking from the lion water fountain, riding the train with my friend, Emily, and getting tired after walking so much.
After the funeral on Thursday we drove back to Nevada. This was the scene about halfway home. The boys were completely worn out but made good use of the stuffed animals we bought at the gift shop. Who knew they made excellent pillows?

So fun! That lion drinking fountain always stuck in my memory from when I was little, too. 🙂 And I love the merry-go-round at the zoo—so many good animals to ride on!
